Avalanche vs. Canadiens

The Colorado Avalanche will travel to the Bell Centre to take on the Montreal Canadiens (7:30 PM ET, NHL Network). The Avalanche will look to gain momentum from their huge 3-2 overtime win on Saturday against the Arizona Coyotes. Colorado needs a win to move up in the standings of the Western Conference. The Avalanche have lost three of their last five games. Meanwhile, the Canadiens will look to snap their six-game losing streak. Montreal has had a rough month of March as they have yet to find a win. On Saturday, the Canadiens lost to the New Jersey Devils 3-1.

Canadiens vs. Avalanche: Start time, Tale of the Tape, and how to watch - Eyes On The Prize

With an 36-22-6 record on the season, they sit in third in the Central Division and seventh in the Western Conference. The Avalanche are 6-3-1 in their last ten games. Colorado has been excellent this season on the road as they are 18-11-1 as the away team. Look to see if they can continue their dominance on the road when they travel to take on the Canadiens.

The Avalanche have gotten production from a lot of their players this year. Colorado even has three players already above 50 points on the season. The Avalanche have been led by their superstar center Nathan MacKinnon who has 79 points this season with 28 goals and 51 assists. They are also, led by their right winger Mikko Rantanen who has 76 points on the season with 42 goals and 34 assists. Their leading defenseman this season has been Cale Makar. Makar has 52 points this season with 15 goals and 37 assists.

In their win against the Coyotes, it was Makar who netted in the game-winning goal for the Avalanche in overtime. MacKinnon had a great finishing with two points as he scored the game tying goal in the second period on a powerplay. He also assisted on the Makar goal in overtime. Goalie Alexandar Georgiev had a .900 save percentage with 18 saves on 20 shots. He is now 28-14-5 in net on the season.  They outshot the Coyotes 44-20 in the game. The Avalanche also had 9 takeaways.

Offensively, the Avalanche are averaging 3.16 goals a game on the season. Defensively, Colorado has been allowing teams to score an average of 2.78 points a game on the season. Look to see if their offense can give the Canadiens trouble.

2021-22 Game 25 Storystream: Montreal Canadiens vs. Colorado Avalanche - Eyes On The Prize

With an 26-34-6 record on the season, they sit in eighth in the Atlantic Division and second to last in the Eastern Conference. What has held Montreal back is that they have struggled at home this year as they are 14-16-3 in the Bell Centre. Look to see if they can fix their home struggles and get a much-needed win against the Avalanche.

The Canadiens have not really gotten any production from any their players this year. They have zero players above 50 points on the season. Montreal has been led by center Nick Suzuki who has 49 points on the season with 21 goals and 28 assists. They have also been led by their right winger Cole Caufield who has 36 points on the season with 26 goals and 10 assists.

In their loss against the Devils at home, they started off the game slow as the Devils scored two goals in the first period. In the second period the Canadiens scored their only goal of the game as right winger Denis Gurianov found the back of the net. In the third period though the Devils put the dagger in Montreal scoring an empty net goal. In the game the Devils outshot the Canadiens 37-24.

Offensively, the Canadiens are averaging 2.67 points a game on the season. Defensively, Montreal has been allowing teams to score an average of 3.55 points a game on the season. Look to see if they can capitalize in this game offensively and find the back of the net against the Colorado’s defense.

Prediction

I love the Avalanche on the road in this game. Montreal has been struggling mightily as late. I think the Avalanche are the better team in this one with more weapons on offense and better goaltending. Plus, the Avalanche are still playing for something and trying to move up in the Western Conference standings. Watch out though as the Canadiens have been money ATS this season and especially as of late. I think the Canadiens keep the game close but lose. The Avalanche win this game 2-1 against the Canadiens.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Montreal Canadiens Pick: Colorado Avalanche Moneyline and Montreal Canadiens spread (+1.5).
