The Carolina Hurricanes will travel to the Prudential Center to take on the New Jersey Devils in a matchup between the two top teams in the Metropolitan Division (7:00 PM ET, NHLPP/ESPN+). The Hurricanes will look to add to their four-game winning streak in this game. On Thursday, Carolina beat the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 at home. Meanwhile, the Devils will look to start a winning streak of their own and gain some momentum. They have been inconsistent as of late winning one game and losing the other. With an 43-12-8 record on the season they sit in first in the Metropolitan Division and second in the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes are 8-2 in their last ten games. This has to do with their success on the road. Carolina has been great this year on the road as they are 20-5-6 as the away team. Look to see if they can continue their dominance on the road when they travel to take on the Devils.

The Hurricanes have gotten production from a lot of their players this year. Carolina has four players already above 50 points on the season. The Hurricanes have been led by center Martin Necas who has 60 points this season with 25 goals and 35 assists. They are also, led by their center Sebastian Aho who has 55 points on the season with 27 goals and 28 assists. Their leading defenseman this season has been Brent Burns who is currently in his 19th season in the NHL. Burns has 51 points this season with 12 goals and 39 assists.

In their win against the Flyers, the only goal scored in the game came early in the first period. Right winger Andrei Svechnikov scored on a power play goal 2 minutes and 9 seconds into the game. He was assisted on the goal by Burns. Goalie Pyotr Kochetkov got the shutout not letting the Flyers score. In the game he made 19 saves. Kochetkov is now 11-4-5 on the season in net. Carolina dominated in the shots and faceoffs categories. They outshot the Flyers 29-19 and won 29 faceoffs compared to 17 faceoffs won by the Flyers.

Offensively, the Hurricanes are averaging 3.38 goals a game on the season. Defensively, Carolina has been allowing teams to score an average of 2.46 points a game on the season. Look to see if their offense can give the Devils trouble.

Devils Hockey

With an 42-16-6 record on the season, they sit in second in the Metropolitan Division and third in the Eastern Conference. What has held New Jersey back is that they have been shaky at home this year as they are 18-12-2 in the Prudential Center. Look to see if they can fix their home struggles and start a win streak against Carolina.

The Devils have gotten production from a lot of their players this year. They have four players above 50 points on the season. New Jersey has been led by center Jack Hughes who has 76 points on the season with 36 goals and 40 assists. In their win against the Capitals on the road, center Dawson Mercer led the way for the Devils as he contributed in both of the goals in regulation. Mercer finished the game with a goal and an assist. The hero of the game was right winger Timo Meier who scored a goal in the shootout to give the Devils the win. Goalie Akira Schmid finished the game with a .909 save percentage as he saved 20 shots on 22 attempts. Schmid is now 7-4-1 in net on the season. New Jersey outshot the Capitals 40-22 in the game.

Prediction

I know the Devils have struggled at home and the Hurricanes have been excellent on the road, but I think the Devils come out strong and want to take a game back from the Hurricanes in the Metropolitan Division. I think Jack Hughes has a big game in this one as he has been dominant all season. The Devils win a close 3-2 game against the Hurricanes.
