Canadiens Put up a Fight

There’s no better follow up to a brutal two game stretch that included the Bruins and the Hurricanes, than that of a home game against the Canadiens in Madison Square Garden. The Montreal Canadiens enter this contest against the Rangers following a 5-3 loss to the Boston Bruins themselves. That last marked the ninth loss in a row for the Canadians, and has made it eight straight losses in which the opponent has outscored them by two or more goals.

They are tied with the Arizona Coyotes for the fewest points in the season at only 51, and it seems that they are calling it a season, as Carey Price was absent from practice Tuesday morning, making it seem as though he will be shut down once again for the season. The New York Rangers, on the other hand, have everything to play for. As we said before, they will be coming off a tough game against The Carolina Hurricanes, But a win during regulation period would bring them within two points of the division title. Pairing that one with a win here against the Canadians would put all the more pressure on the Hurricanes.

With all that being said, advising you to bet on a -390 favorite just simply has no value, but what does is the under of six goals. The goal total for the last five games for the Rangers has been set around 5.5 to 6.5 and the under has hit in all but one of them. Additionally, the Rangers ranked second in goals allowed against them at 2.46 a game. Pair that with the fact that the Canadians ranks second to last in goals scored per game at 2.55, and you have the recipe for a low scoring affair.

For expert New York Rangers versus Montreal Canadiens prediction, take the under of six goals.
