Can the Maple Leafs Topple the Odds?
If you followed our last video on game six of this Toronto Maple Leafs versus Tampa Bay Lightning series, you’d enter Game 7 in the plus money. Wild Game Six was an OT nail biter, the end result was, as we told you it would be, the Lightning forcing Game 7. The Maple Leafs are the slight favorite in this game seven, and rightfully so, as they’ve won two of the three games in Toronto of this series and have outscored the Lightning in those games 12 to 8. Toronto gave it their all in their game six overtime loss, and one has to wonder if that will weigh down heavily on them, how close they were to putting the series away, but failing.
I believe that this will be the case as the Lightning are just a far more experienced playoff team. When asked what it meant to go home for game seven of this series, the Maple Leafs captain John Tavares stated that they’ve worked hard all year to get home ice and they have a great opportunity to put this series away in front of home fans so they must regroup there. But that’s going to be what kills them. The Tampa Bay Lightning don’t have to regroup. The Lightning are riding high off their overtime victory and will ride high once again with a win in Game 7. In their last 10 games, the Lightning have outscored their opponents by a ratio of 3.7 to 2.5, and will continue to improve that ratio.
