Two Great Quarterbacks Go Head-to-Head
The 2-3 LA Chargers will take on the 5-1 KC Chiefs this week. The Chargers are coming off a tough 3-point loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, while the Chiefs are enjoying a 5-game win streak. The Chargers have been competitive in every game, losing 3 matchups by 3 points or less, but Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is crafty, and he always seems to have a plan no matter what the game throws at him.
Patrick Mahomes and the KC offense are recording 382.3 total yards per game, while Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense are averaging 365.4 total yards per game. These are two high-powered offenses led by competent All-Pro quarterbacks, but one team’s defense clearly outmatches the other. The Chiefs are allowing the 5th-fewest yards (284.0) in the NFL, while the Chargers have struggled, giving up the 31st-fewest yards (391.6) in the league. KC’s offense struggled last week against the last place Denver defense, but I’m expecting a bounce-back performance for Mahomes and the Chiefs against a Chargers secondary that’s allowing nearly 300 passing yards and 25 points per game.
So for our Chargers vs. Chiefs expert pick, take the Kansas City Chiefs to Cover (-5.5) on Sunday.
