The Battle of Los Angeles

rams vs chargers

The two Los Angeles football teams will play against each other at SoFi Stadium on August 13th at 10:00 pm. These teams will match up against each other again later this season. It will be the first time the reigning Super Bowl champions will play this offseason and it so happens to come against their city rival, the Chargers. Both of these teams are expected to have great seasons as they have great talent on their rosters. During preseason, players are still fighting for a position on the final 52-man roster, so expect to see everyone at their best. Caesars Casino & Sportsbook has the match result odds at -160 Chargers and +140 Rams. Additionally, the over/under total points for the game are set at 30.0 with the over and under both being -110. New users will receive a Risk-Free Bet of up to $1500 on their first wager.

The Chargers missed the playoffs last season in a heartbreaking loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in the last game of the regular season. Since then, they have made impressive additions to their defense, having signed linebacker, Khalil Mack, from the Chicago Bears and cornerback, J.C. Jackson, from the New England Patriots. They also signed tight end, Gerald Everett, and will look to exploit his receiving capabilities. This team is ready to rock. They have a young star at quarterback with Justin Herbert, a runningback that can both catch the ball and bulldoze defenders in Austin Ekeler, and finally have a one-two punch with wide receivers, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. Last season, their defense struggled and because of this, they missed the playoffs. Now with their new defensive signings, on paper, this defense has the chance to finish top seven in the league. The franchise has done a great job at giving Herbert all the weapons he needs on both sides of the ball to be successful. This season Herbert could finish in the conversation for league MVP, as he has put up impressive numbers in his first two seasons in the league.

Rams news: Brandon Staley preparing for Rams-Chargers showdown in 2022 - Turf Show Times

The Rams won the Super Bowl last season and plan on repeating again this season. After losing wide receiver, Robert Woods, in free agency, they went out and signed wide receiver, Allen Robinson. Robinson had shown early glimpses of dominance with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears but was always held back by quarterback play. Now heading into this season at 29 years old, he gets to play with a Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford who is regarded as one of the best QBs in the league. The Rams did lose defender, Von Miller, in free agency but did end up signing linebacker, Bobby Wagner, from Seattle. Although Wagner is 32 years old, he did make the second-team All-Pro last season. He is a lot left in the tank and he joins a decorated defense with cornerback, Jalen Ramsey, and defensive lineman, Aaron Donald, who is regarded by most as the best player in the NFL.

It is unknown at the time if both teams plan on playing their starters but it should still be an exciting game. I expect the Chargers to be the better side in this match as they have a better quarterback rotation than the Rams. I believe the coaches of both teams will do their best to prevent any injuries from happening and will be cautious of who plays. This game will serve as a sneak peek of their week 17 matchup that awaits them later this NFL season.
