Ok, let’s get to our Tampa vs Atlanta predictions.
Following a two-game losing streak, Tom Brady and Bucs have rebounded to win two in a row and distant themselves away from the pack in the NFC South Division with an 8-3 record, while the Falcons come into today’s game off a 21-14 win over Jacksonville last week that helped them snap a two-game losing streak of their own and improve to 5-6.
When you look at the series between these two teams the recurring trend you’ll see is lots and lots of points. Ten of the last 11 meetings between these two teams have gone over the total and in the last four meetings, the average amount scored has been 63 points per game. And we think that trend continues here today.
First off, we have a Tampa Bay offensive line that is the best in the league at protecting the quarterback going up against an Atlanta pass rush that is dead last in sack percentage. That means Tom Brady is going to have all day to drop back and throw the ball and he’ll carve up an Atlanta secondary in perfect conditions under the dome. In fact, since Tom Brady came to Tampa Bay, they have had five games indoors as a road favorite and the team is averaging 38 points per game in that situation.
As for the Falcons offense, the team will most likely abandon the run since they have the 28th-ranked rushing attack and will be facing the Bucs’ Number 1 rated rush defense. So expect Matt Ryan to throw the ball early and often in this game, which is always a friend to the under.
The Bucs have gone over the total in 17 of their last 22 AFC South Division Games and they are also 29-13 to the over in their last 42 road games.
At 50.5 points, this total is way too low so let’s play the over today in Atlanta.
