49ers vs. Chiefs: Other 1st Quarter Bets

  1. Quarter of 1st touchdown: First Quarter (-320)

Prediction: Yes, someone will score a touchdown in the first quarter of the Super Bowl. Teams that score first in the Super Bowl have a combined record of 34-16 (win-rate: 68%), and you can bet both the 49ers and Chiefs will want to be first on the board.

  • San Francisco 49ers Score Touchdown in 1st Quarter: Yes (-110); No (-120)

Prediction: Yes. The 49ers will score a touchdown in the 1st quarter. The Niners scored a 1st quarter touchdown in 76.5% of their regular season games.

  • Kansas City Chiefs Score Touchdown in 1st Quarter: Yes (+100); No (-130)

Prediction: No. The Chiefs will not score a touchdown in the first quarter. The Chiefs scored a 1st quarter touchdown in 47.1% of their regular season games.

49ers vs. Chiefs: 1st Quarter Prediction

Here is my 1st quarter prediction for Super Bowl LVIII:

In the postseason the 49ers have yet to score in the 1st quarter. However, during the regular season San Francisco averaged 6.1 points per 1st quarter, tied for the 3rd-most in the NFL. The 49ers know they can’t afford to fall behind against the Chiefs, so I’m expecting a long opening drive from the Niners. San Francisco will focus on the run, as the Chiefs defense has struggled against running backs, allowing 4.6 YPC in the playoffs, and the Niners have the best running back in the league, Christian McCaffrey. The 49ers will cap off their opening drive with a rushing touchdown from CMC, while the Chiefs, who average 4.8 1st quarter points, will end the quarter with a Harrison Butker field goal. The 1st quarter will end with 49ers: 7 and Chiefs: 3.

Moneyline Pick: San Francisco 49ers (-110) *49ers will lead after the 1st quarter

ATS Pick: San Francisco 49ers (-0.5) *49ers will lead by more than 1 point

O/U Pick: Over (9.5) *49ers and Chiefs will combine for at least 10 points in the 1st quarter

Score: 49ers 7; Chiefs 3
