Ok, let’s get to the Steelers vs Vikings expert prediction.

This is a Thursday Night game that pits two teams that entered the season with playoff aspirations, but have both been major disappointments.

Despite last week’s big upset win over divisional rival Baltimore, the Steelers come into tonight’s game with a 6-5-1 record and are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff chase. Meanwhile, the Vikings’ playoff hopes were dealt a serious blow when they lost to the previously winless Detroit Lions on Sunday, dropping their record to 5-7.

Much of Minnesota’s problems this season can be blamed on a rash of key injuries and it will be more of the same tonight as running back Dalvin Cook and wide receiver Adam Thielen are both expected to be sidelined.

Simply put, the Vikings look like a team that’s cooked right now. They were hanging onto their playoff hopes by a thread and to go out and lose to the Lions is the ultimate embarrassment. With all of their injuries, we don’t see how a dejected team like this should be laying over a field goal – especially when you add in the fact that their head coach is probably going to be fired, which means they very well may have already tuned him out.

On the other side of the ball, the Steelers offense is still below average at best, but the team got some key cogs back from injury on defense – most notably TJ Watt – and, believe me, he is an absolute game changer.

Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are always worth a look when they are catching points. After last week’s win over Baltimore, Pittsburgh has now covered 35 of their last 54 games as an underdog, and that includes a 13-5 ATS run as a road underdog.

So, for our Steelers vs Vikings pick, let’s fade the sinking Vikings ship and their lame duck head coach and take the 3.5 points with the Steelers.
