Steelers vs Eagles on Thursday Night

The Pittsburgh Steelers, fresh off a preseason win over the Dallas Cowboys now face the Philadelphia Eagles. This will be the Eagles’ first game of the preseason and they’ll look to build momentum into the regular season. After finishing with a 4-11 record in 2020, getting a great start will be huge for Philadelphia. They’ll also get to host Pittsburgh from their own home at Lincoln Financial Field.

Per BetOnline, the Pittsburgh Steelers come in as +1 underdogs. This is likely due to the oddsmakers believing the Eagles have the better bench. However, when the Steelers faced the Cowboys, they decimated the NFC East team, 16-3. Now, Mike Tomlin and his team have their eyes set on another NFC East contender. We’ll get a second look at some players we saw in last week’s game. We might even see some extra time on the field for others. The most important question though, is who should you pick?

Pittsburgh Proved Their Depth Against

It was all about Pittsburgh in Thursday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. Every player on the roster chipped in, most notable being, Mason Rudolph. This is the difference between the Steelers’ backup quarterback, and most everyone else’s. It seems like people forget Rudolph was running the show for a while when Roethlisberger was out. He’s able to make smart throws, even in games that have less significance.

The Steelers defense will have their work cut out for them though as they go against a great quarterback. We aren’t talking about just Jalen Hurts though, but Joe Flacco. If you’ve forgotten, Joe Flacco is the backup quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, instead of going against a regular backup quarterback, the defense will have to face a Super Bowl-winning QB. It won’t be an easy task, especially if the second-team defense is on the field.

What Can Philadelphia Bring To Thursday?

Philadelphia is trying to wipe the 2020 season out of the team’s history. Finishing at the bottom of the division isn’t something they want to remember. They’ve finally let go of Carson Wentz and will likely stick with Jalen Hurts at quarterback. On Thursday, we’ll see a little bit from Hurts but not enough to risk an injury. We could see a little of DeVonta Smith though, the Heisman-winning wide receiver from Alabama.

He, along with the expertise of Joe Flacco, should give the Steelers trouble on Thursday. The question now is, how much trouble? We know both of these teams have some serious depth throughout the first, second, and third string. Only one can win the game, however. The Eagles are -1 point per BetOnline, so, here’s our prediction on the game.

We believe this game will be a back-and-forth offensive battle. It won’t be like last week’s game between the Steelers and Cowboys. This will be a game of whose defense can make the last and final stop.

Both of these teams have an incredible roster and we’ll get to see it on full display. However, we’re here to give you the best NFL picks and predictions, so, we’re going to take the Eagles here.

The Eagles just have too deep of a roster, with a backup quarterback that has won a Super Bowl. They’re also at home so they have an advantage there as well.
