NFL Wild Card Sunday will finish with the long-awaited matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions. The Lions are in the playoffs for the first time since 2017, and they won the NFC North for the first time in 30 years. The Rams snuck their way into the postseason after a strong finish to the regular season, winning 7 of their last 8 to secure a playoff spot for the 4th time in 6 seasons. This will be a hard fought, tightly contested Wild Card matchup, and while the Lions are 3-point favorites, the Rams could certainly pull off the upset.

Prediction: OVER (-130)
Lions quarterback Jared Goff will be up against his former team on Sunday. Goff was the first overall draft pick back in 2016, selected by the LA Rams. Goff took the Rams to the Super Bowl in 2018, but lost 3-13 to the Patriots. Now he gets a second chance, but with a new team. The Lions traded for Goff in 2021, sending Matthew Stafford to the Rams, and Jared Goff has gotten better every season with Detroit.
This season, Goff threw for 4,575 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He had 9 games with multiple touchdown passes, and has a good chance to go over 1.5 passing touchdowns against his former team on Sunday. The Rams gave up 231.1 yards per game and 24 passing touchdowns on the season. Detroit’s is 5th in scoring with 27.1 points per game with Jared Goff at the helm. Goff is in-line for a big game, so take the over on his 1.5 passing touchdowns prop.
Rams vs. Lions Game Predictions
This is a tough game to call, but I am going with the Detroit Lions in this one. The Rams are an underrated team that’ll give Detroit a run for their money, but the Lions have waited so long to get back to the playoffs, and they’ll do anything to avoid an early exit. The surging Rams have a lot of momentum, but they’ll have to beat Detroit on the road, where LA has struggled. The Lions are 6-2 at home, while the Rams are 5-4 in away games. Detroit’s fans have waited long enough for a shot at the Super Bowl, and with this year’s team, that shot has never looked better.
