Ok, let’s get to the Expert Predictions for today’s NFL Divisional Round Playoff Game.

Both of these teams are coming off impressive wins in the Wild Card Round as the Rams trounced the Cardinals at home on Monday Night, 34-11, as a 3.5-point favorite while Tampa Bay drilled Philadelphia, 31-15, at home as a 7-point chalk.

This game is a rematch of a Week 3 match-up in LA that saw the Rams control the Bucs from the opening kickoff and cruise to a 34-24 victory as a 1-point home underdog. Of course, much has changed for both teams since that game that was played way back on September 26 and this over/under for today has dropped dramatically from the 55 we saw posted in the first meeting and we think the move is warranted.

For Tampa Bay, they are battling some injuries to key players both on the offensive line and at the wide receiver position. As a result, we expect to see Tom Brady releasing the ball even quicker than he typically does and for the Bucs to employ a run-heavy/short-passing game on offense to try and counter LA’s fierce pass rush and take advantage of the the weak spot on their defense, which is the linebacker position.

As for the Rams, no player turned the ball over more in the second half of the season than LA QB Matthew Stafford. Yes, he had a great game on Monday Night against the Cardinals, but that was at home in a game the Rams controlled from start to finish. Head coach Sean McVay has turned this team into a run-first offense because he simply does not trust Stafford right now and we expect to see the same game plan today as he does not want to get into a shootout with Tom Brady.

Also, McVay has proven to be a much more conservative head coach in the playoffs. Heading into this postseason, in six playoff games, his teams have scored an average of 20 points per game and the average total amount of points scored in those games is 42.6.

So, in a game where the two defenses will be the best units on the field and both offenses will play it conservative, let’s play under the total of 48.
