Packers Attempt The Impossible
The Green Bay Packers shocked the NFL with their win over the heavily favored Dallas Cowboys last week, and on Saturday, Green Bay will try to do it again. The Packers are taking on the heavily favored San Francisco 49ers, who earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC after finishing 12-5. The 49ers are 9.5 point favorites, averaged 28.9 points per game, allowing 17.5 points against, and are fully expected to beat the Packers. Green Bay has a lot to overcome, but last week proved that anything is possible.
While the Niners are favored by a considerable margin, upsets have run rampant this season, so I’d stay away from the moneylines and spread. Instead, take the Over on 50.5 total points. The 49ers are arguably the best offense in the NFL, scoring 30 or more points 9 times during the regular season. The Packers offense has struggled at times, but last week Green Bay put up 48 points against a strong Dallas defense, and averaged 30.2 points per game over their last 4. This is going to be a shootout, and while the 49ers are certainly the better team, I think the Packers are going to surprise a lot of people.
So for our Packers vs. 49ers expert pick, take the Over (50.5) on Saturday.
