Niners No Longer Undefeated

The San Francisco 49ers were unstoppable, but last week the Cleveland Browns proved they are the best defense in the NFL, beating the 49ers 19-17. Niners QB Brock Purdy put in the worst performance of his young career, snapping a 15-game winning streak for Mr. Irrelevant. The 49ers are now 5-1, but remain atop the NFC West, and are looking to bounce back after last week’s crushing defeat.

The Niners take on the 2-4 Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have had a sluggish start to the season, but beat the Bears last week, even though Minnesota was without their All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Jefferson is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a hamstring injury, leaving the Vikings without their best offensive weapon against a suffocating 49ers defense.

The 49ers will cover the spread (-105) against the Vikings. The Niners defense allows the fewest points per game (14.5 points), and without Jefferson the Vikings passing attack has come to a stand still. The game script will require Minnesota to throw the ball often to keep up with the 49ers offense, and that doesn’t bode well for the Vikings. San Francisco is dealing with several key injuries themselves, as RB Chrisitan McCaffrey, WR Deebo Samuel, and LT Trent Williams are all questionable, but the Niners are loaded with talent and should be fine even if all three players miss Monday night’s matchup.

So for our 49ers vs. Vikings expert pick, take the San Francisco 49ers to Cover (-7) on Monday.
