NFL’s worst battle on primetime
The Panthers are not having a great season and were expecting more from the number 1 overall pick Bryce Young. They have the worst record in the NFL sitting at 1-7. They picked up their first win two weeks ago against the Texans on a game winning field goal. Last week they lost to the Colts with Young throwing 3 interceptions. Young struggles have really stunted this team as a whole. The Panthers are 28th in total offense and 27th in scoring averaging just 17.5 a game. The defense hasn’t been much of a help to the rookie quarterback. They rank deadlast in the NFL allowing over 28 points per game on the season. This may be the best chance the Panthers have at a win the rest of the season and they’ll look to take advantage of that.
The Bears have been one of the worst teams in football this year and sit at the bottom of the NFC North with a 2-7 record. Their only wins have come against the Raiders and Commanders. Starting quarterback Justin Fields looks to sit this one out as well which means Tyson Bagent will get the start. He looked good in his first start but has struggled since. He is averaging only 174 yards per game and has thrown just 3 touchdowns to 6 interceptions. The offense has been mediocre, ranking 19th in total offense and averaging just under 21 points per game. On the other side the defense has been abysmal. They rank 28th allowing 26.9 points per game. They also have the worst turnover differential in the league.
Take the Panthers in this one. It’s difficult to take the Bears by more than a field goal. Bagent has gotten progressively worse and has looked terrible since the first game. The Bears have the worst turnover differential in the league and have failed to cover in the one other game they were favored. If Fields continues to sit, I find it difficult to put money on the Bears. Young has shown flashes and should perform well against this Bears defense. So for our Panthers v Bears expert pick take the Panthers +3.5
