NFL Predictions — Philadelphia Eagles at Denver Broncos (11/14)
The Philadelphia Eagles seem to have found something that works for them lately; they are concentrating a lot more on the ground game. And they are doing that even though they don’t have Miles Sanders in the lineup.
But they scored a resounding win over Detroit and then took the Chargers to the limit before losing, and now they come into Mile High to take on the Denver Broncos with perhaps a little more hope.
The kickoff is set for 4:25 PM ET, and BetAnySports customers can get reduced juice on this game, along with a lot of other angles to play with Prop Builder.
The Eagles went nuts on the ground a couple of weeks ago, going for 236 yards against the winless Lions. Then they added 176 more against the Chargers, a team that is arguably the worst in the league against the run.
But they will likely find more resistance than that against a Denver team that went to AT&T Stadium in Arlington and pulled a shocker over the Dallas Cowboys, in a game that was not as close as the 30-16 score indicated.
Keep in mind that there are three wild card entrants into the playoffs, so the 5-4 Broncos are right in the thick of things. The Eagles have a lot of catching up to do, as they are 3-6 and trying to escape the cellar of the NFC East, where the Cowboys have taken command.
In the NFL odds posted at BetAnySports, the Broncos are only slight favorites:
Denver Broncos -1.5
Philadelphia Eagles +1.5
Over 45 points -110
Under 45 points -110

The Eagles have run the ball 72% of the time over the last two games. And maybe that’s the kind of thing you do with Jalen Hurts as your quarterback. He is, after all, the leading rusher on the team. But Jordan Howard has been taken off the practice squad, and coach Nick Sirianni is very happy with what he’s done (71 yards vs.the Chargers last week).
Denver took to the ground last week against Dallas, with 190 yards, 111 of which were provided by rookie Javonte Williams. They led the game 30-0 before the Cowboys put any points on the scoreboard with a little over four minutes left. Philly has done a respectable job against the run, allowing just under four yards a pop. But the real concern is elsewhere on defense. Last week the Chargers got at least as far as the Eagles’ 27-yard line on every possession. They did not punt; Justin Herbert took not so much as a quarterback hit. And he completed 32 of 38 passes for 356 yards. Five QB’s have hit at least 80% of their passes against this defense, and right now the Eagles have allowed opponents to complete 75.5% of their passes, which, if it held, would be an NFL record for futility.
So Denver QB Teddy Bridgewater, who has completed 70% on the season, may find things more favorable by working the short passing game. And Vic Fangio can dial up a defense to make the Eagles one-dimensional. So this is a bad matchup for Sirianni, as we lay the small number with the Broncos.
