NY GIANTS AT MINNESOTA VIKINGS NFL FOOTBALL BETTING PREVIEW 10/3
The New York Giants look like they were turning over a new leaf, but then they went back to the kind of thing that plague them last season, as they blew a 12-point lead in the second half against the Washington Redskins. If you remember, they lost five games last season when they had a fourth-quarter lead. That loss last week spoiled what could have been a 3-0 start for them, so they come into Minneapolis on Monday night with a little bit of anger. Waiting for them are the Minnesota Vikings, who have overcome quite a few difficulties to spring out to a 3-0 record, and are atop the NFC North division. This game will begin at 8:30 PM ET at the brand-new US Bank Stadium, and while ESPN televises the game live, BetAnySports patrons can place wagers on it while it is happening, using the state-of-the-art software of Live Betting Ultra.
The Vikings have done a great job improvising after the loss of their quarterback. Teddy Bridgewater went down with a very serious knee injury during training camp, and spirits were really down at the time. But then management pulled a bold move, making the trade for Sam Bradford, giving up a first and fourth-round draft pick in the process, and thus far he has not only done a good job of minding the store, he is taking this team to a much different level than it would have experienced under backup Shaun Hill. Bradford has completed 40 out of his 59 passes with three touchdowns, and has not been intercepted as of yet. While it is true that he does not possess the mobility of Bridgewater, he does indeed have better pocket presence and obviously more experience to draw upon.
Minnesota is also missing running back Adrian Peterson, who got off to a slow start and then injured his knee in a game against the Green Bay Packers. He has been put on the injured reserve list, which means that he cannot return until after the 10th week. How the Vikings pick up the pieces in their ground game may determine whether they ultimately win a second straight division title.
In the Monday night football odds that have been posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, the Vikings are laying points to the Giants here:
New York Giants +4
Minnesota Vikings -4
Over 43 points -110
Under 43 points -110
Without Bridgewater and Peterson, the Vikings defeated both the Carolina Panthers and the Packers, so you can’t say that they have feasted on minimal opposition. They are also missing left tackle Matt Kalil, and that has the potential to cause a problem against a New York pass rush that has the potential to do a lot more that it is doing right now. The Giants have only four sacks, but if they don’t have much of a running game to worry about, they can take more time to tee off on the rather immobile Bradford.
Meanwhile, the Giants have to worry about getting their own ground game untracked. Shane Vereen, who had been the most consistent guy in the early going, is out for the season. They are hoping that Rashad Jennings can be ready for this game, because frankly, somebody has to do something to balance this offense. Eli Manning is completing 71% of his passes with an 8.6-yard average, and BetAnySports patrons know that there is a high ceiling here, as the trio of Odell Beckham, Sterling Shepard and Victor Cruz has the potential to do a lot of damage.
The Giants have a nasty taste in their mouth from last year’s meeting, when Manning was intercepted three times on the way to a 49-17 Minnesota victory. The Giants gave up 218 rushing yards in that one, and all indications are that the defense is improved with some of the new additions, including Snacks Harrison, who developed a reputation as a run-stuffer with his previous team, the New York Jets. The stats bear that out so far, as the Boys in Blue have yielded just 3.2 yards per carry.
