MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL PREVIEW — BUFFALO BILLS VISIT SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS” HOME WAY FROM HOME

The San Francisco 49ers have found themselves still in the playoff race, despite a virtual plethora of obstacles that have been placed in their path. And now, after a slew of injuries that have reduced them to a shell of the club that went to the Super Bowl last season, they can get to the .500 mark as they take on the Buffalo Bills in the Monday Night Football game that will be seen by onlinesportsbet customers and the whole nation on ESPN.

Bills VS 49ers history

If you have been following the San Francisco 49ers this season, you know that they have been decimated on both sides of the ball. The defensive line was shattered by the loss of Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas, Ziggy Ansah and Dee Ford. And they have had offensive players in and out of the lineup all season long. Among them is Jimmy Garoppolo, who has built an outstanding win-loss record but is unavailable with a high ankle sprain.

And yet here they are, at 5-6 (both straight-up and against the spread) and they are among a number of teams who still have a shot at the wild card.

With home games against Buffalo, Washington and Seattle left, they had an opportunity to make a move. But those home games are not taking place at Levi’s Stadium. Instead, because of local regulations in the Santa Clara area that are banning contact sports, they have had to take it on the road, relocating to the Phoenix area on short notice.

As a result, this game is being played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ, home of the Arizona Cardinals.

Kickoff is 8:15 PM ET, and in the Monday Night Football betting odds at BetOnline, the 49ers are slightly favored:

One of the areas in which there has been a revolving door is at running back. And the Niners are happy that they are in relatively good shape in that area. Raheem Mostert is a speedster who was a dominant force in the playoffs, and he is back in the lineup, as is the steady Jeff Wilson. And Jerick McKinnon is a guy coach Kyle Shanahan coveted right from the beginning, because of his ability to catch passes out of the backfield.

Being able to throw passes to the backs is very important in this offense. And when you look at the numbers produced by Nick Mullens, who has taken over from Jimmy G, you’ll see that his passes have brought with them the highest average yards after the catch of any quarterback in the NFL.

Oh, and we should mention that Deebo Samuel’s yards after catch numbers are the highest in the NFL by a wide margin, and 4.5 yards higher than any other wide receiver.

Can these guys play their game against Buffalo? The Bills don’t have the fierce defense that characterized Sean McDermott’s early tenure as head coach. In fact, they are just 22nd in the league in points allowed per drive. And they have also surprisingly yielded 4.7 yards per rush attempt, which puts them right down near the bottom of the league.

Sure, Buffalo is the AFC East leader at 8-3 (6-5 ATS), while the Niners are the team missing quite a bit of talent. But this Frisco coaching staff knows how to adapt. Shanahan deserves some consideration for coach of the year, though he won’t get it. But Robert Saleh has put himself in pole position for head coaching openings in the off-season.

We’ll side with the “home” team here. Yes, that’s SAN FRANCISCO.
