The Chicago Bears might find themselves at a distinct disadvantage going into Sunday night’s NFL encounter, but it is the Dallas Cowboys, their opponents, who are starting the rookie at quarterback. Hoyer has started 26 games in the NFL, assuming the regular spot for the Cleveland Browns in 2014, with mixed results, and winning out in a battle with Ryan Mallett for the position with the Houston Texans last year. And he piloted the team down the stretch as they won the AFC South. But then he folded in the wild card playoff game against Kansas City, hitting just 15 of his 34 passes and suffering through four interceptions. After that, he was more or less expendable with the Texans, as he is no one’s vision of a “quarterback of the future.” Interestingly though, his 13.7 yards per completion for the Browns in 2014 was the highest figure in the league. If the Bears’ tackles can keep him upright, maybe he can do some damage.

Jeremy Langford is the guy filling Matt Forte’s shoes in Chicago, and with the two Pro Bowl guards this team has, he should be doing better than his three-yard-per-carry average.
