CHICAGO BEARS AT DALLAS COWBOYS 9/25 NFL BETTING LINES/span>

The Chicago Bears might find themselves at a distinct disadvantage going into Sunday night’s NFL encounter, but it is the Dallas Cowboys, their opponents, who are starting the rookie at quarterback. This may be an interesting matchup, since Dallas is somewhat short-handed on the defensive side of the football, and the action is set to get underway at 8:30 PM ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. Chicago was thoroughly disappointing in its Monday night loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, with only one offensive touchdown. And they presumably dug themselves a hole for this week when they lost starting QB Jay Cutler to a right hand injury. They will have to go with Brian Hoyer behind center for this game, and we have seen enough of him to know, for the most part, what we are getting.
The Cowboys are still in the process of discovering what Dak Prescott is capable of. The rookie fourth-round draft pick out of Mississippi State opened everyone’s eyes with a great pre-season showing; enough that even when Tony Romo went down with a broken bone in his back, they were not all that worried about having a starting signal-caller. Prescott has not crumbled; in the season opener he was careful against the Giants, averaging only five yards an attempt, but he opened things up a little more in the come-from-behind victory over the Washington Redskins.
In the Sunday night NFL betting lines on this game, as they have been posted at BetAnySports, the Cowboys are laying almost a touchdown:
Dallas Cowboys -6.5
Chicago Bears +6.5
Over 44 points -110
Under 44 points -110
Hoyer has started 26 games in the NFL, assuming the regular spot for the Cleveland Browns in 2014, with mixed results, and winning out in a battle with Ryan Mallett for the position with the Houston Texans last year. And he piloted the team down the stretch as they won the AFC South. But then he folded in the wild card playoff game against Kansas City, hitting just 15 of his 34 passes and suffering through four interceptions. After that, he was more or less expendable with the Texans, as he is no one’s vision of a “quarterback of the future.” Interestingly though, his 13.7 yards per completion for the Browns in 2014 was the highest figure in the league. If the Bears’ tackles can keep him upright, maybe he can do some damage.
Most BetAnySports patrons remember Prescott from his college days, especially as a junior, when he was a contender for the Heisman Trophy and had Mississippi State in contention for the top of the polls for a time. He exhibited a lot of ability to pull the ball down and run with it, and he really hasn’t shown a whole lot of that so far in the regular season. The Cowboys probably want to protect him, but you know the ability to improvise is there.
Running backs will be a focus. Ezekiel Elliot, in his first season out of Ohio State, was humbled by a pair of fumbles last week, and Jason Garrett actually sat him down in the fourth quarter, which opened the door for Albert Morris to score the winning TD against his former team. Jeremy Langford is the guy filling Matt Forte’s shoes in Chicago, and with the two Pro Bowl guards this team has, he should be doing better than his three-yard-per-carry average.
