Carolina at Seattle- NFL Week 13 Preview and Pick
BetAnySports Game Line: Seattle -7
BetAnySports Total Line: 44.5
Sunday’s action in Week 13 of the NFL season closes things out with a prime time matchup in the NFC between the Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks. Game time from CenturyLink Field is set for 8:30 p.m. and it will be available on NBC.
Carolina at Seattle Game Preview
The Panthers’ bid to get back to the playoffs this season took a serious hit with last Sunday’s 35-32 loss to Oakland as 3.5-point road underdogs at BetAnySports. They are now 4-7 straight-up and even with the cover their record against the spread stands at 3-6-2. Carolina stays on the West Coast this week with a 1-3-1 record ATS in five previous home games this year. The total went OVER 48 against the Raiders after staying UNDER in its previous three games.
Cam Newton threw for 246 yards and two scores against Oakland, but he completed just 48.3 percent of his 29 attempts with one interception and two sacks. Ted Ginn Jr. and Kelvin Benjamin combined for six catches for 168 yards and three scores while Jonathan Stewart added 96 yards and two touchdowns on the ground on 17 carries. One big issue continues to be a Carolina defense that is 24th in the NFL in points allowed (25.5).
Seattle took a step backwards last Sunday following a SU three-game winning streak with a 14-5 road loss to Tampa Bay as a five-point favorite. The total stayed well UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line of 46 and it has stayed UNDER in four of its last six games. The Seahawks are now 7-3-1 on the year with an even 5-5-1 record ATS. They are also an even 2-2-1 ATS in five previous home games this season.
After averaging 29.3 points during that recent three-game run, Seattle’s offense was completely shutdown in Tampa Bay. Russell Wilson put the ball up 33 times and completed 17 passes for 151 yards. He was also picked off twice and sacked six times. He did lead the team in rushing in that game with 80 yards on eight carries. Credit the Seahawks’ defense for keeping this game closer than it should have really been. On the year, this unit is ranked seventh in the league in yards allowed (335.6) and it remains at the top of the list in points allowed (17.0).
Carolina at Seattle Free Game Pick
I would look for a better effort from both of these teams this Sunday night, but I would still have to lay the seven points on BetAnySports’ betting line and take Seattle to cover at home.
