NFL Betting Picks — Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers (11/14)
It looks very much like both Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers will get the start as the Seattle Seahawks pay a visit to Lambeau Field to play the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon.

Wilson has been activated, and he will be coming off a finger injury that forced the Seahawks to go with journeyman Geno Smith at quarterback. In his three starts, Smith lost to Pittsburgh and New Orleans, while beating Jacksonville. At the time he went down, which came against the Los Angeles Rams, Wilson had completed 72% of his passes with 10 touchdowns and only one interception.
Rodgers, of course, has been the subject of great controversy as he tested positive for COVID-19 and it was later discovered that he has not been vaccinated. This created a tremendous uproar in the media that still continues. Rodgers has been somewhat defiant about all of this, but we don’t think it is going to affect his performance on the field. That is to say, unless his teammates are mad at him. Since they won’t win without him, they shouldn’t be mad. Rodgers had to sit out last week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and Jordan Love completed 19 of 34 passes for only 190 in his place. The Packers were scoreless until a little less than five minutes remained in the game.
So that’s what it looks like without Rodgers.
In the NFL betting odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, the Packers are the favorites at home colon
Green Bay Packers – 3 (-120)
Seattle Seahawks + 3 (+100)
Over 49.5 points – 110
Under 49.5 points – 110
Rodgers only cleared Covid protocol on Saturday, so obviously he has not had an opportunity to practice with his team. For a lot of other quarterbacks, this would be a major concern. But his teammates know him, and he knows them. So he should be able to step in. Rodgers was intercepted twice in the season opener against New Orleans, which was an embarrassing 38-3 defeat. But since then he’s thrown 17 touchdown passes and has been picked off only once.
Green Bay is very adept at running the football, with Aaron Jones averaging 4.4 yards per carry, while AJ Dillon, the Boston College product, has averaged 4.7. When the Packers spoiled Arizona’s undefeated record a couple of weeks ago, they did so by using the ground game prominently.
There ought to at least be some healthy wide receivers for Rodgers to work with, which was not the case against the Cardinals. As a team, Green Bay has had 2152 passing yards, and Davante Adams has accounted for 786 of them. So he is obviously the first guy Rodgers is looking for. It would be great if David Bakhtiari, the Pro Bowl left tackle, is available, but he is listed as doubtful with his knee injury.
Wilson obviously brings improvisation to the table, and he’s had an extra week to get ready for this opponent, since Seattle was in a bye week. Green Bay might have the best receiver on the field, but the Seahawks have the better tandem, with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett combining for 1159 yards. Pete Carroll likes to run the football (44.3% of the time, in fact), so expect that Seattle will have at least some balance.
If Rodgers and Wilson are indeed good to go, we are going to give a slight edge to the Packers here, based on their ability to get a consistent ground game going.
