New Orleans comes into tonight’s Monday Night Football game off a bye and they are sporting a 3-2 record while the Seahawks are almost in a must-win situation. The reigning NFC West champs are already four games behind undefeated Arizona in the division race and if they drop to 2-5 with a loss tonight it will be tough road to hoe if they want to make it back to the playoffs.
Unfortunately for Seahawks fans, quarterback Russell Wilson remains on injured reserve, so it will be Geno Smith behind center again tonight for Seattle. The Seahwawks are also battling injuries on the offensive line and at running back where they could be down to third-string back Rashard Penny.
As for the Saints, despite the fact that they had a bye week, the team is still far from 100 percent healthy, with leading receiver Deonte Harris and all-everything back-up QB Taysom Hill both ruled out.
So, with some key injuries for both sides of the ball, we expect both head coaches to come out with very conservative offensive game plans.
And since this is already a match-up of the two slowest paced offensive teams in the entire league, we expect this game to be low-scoring, especially early in the game. New Orleans runs the ball an NFL-high 56 percent of the time and on defense the Saints are allowing just 8.6 points per game in the first half, while Seattle has also been very tough on defense in the first half of games, allowing just 10.6 points per game.
