Ok, let’s get to our Dolphins vs Colts picks 2021.
These two teams are both stumbling into today’s contest in MIami as the Dolphins have lost two in a row after beating New England in the season opener while the bruised and battered Colts are winless at 0-3.
MIami will once again turn to Jacoby Brisset at QB as starter Tua Tagovailoa remains sidelined with bruised ribs. Brisset got the start last week on the road against the Raiders and after a slow start, he heated up, completing 32 of 49 passes in an eventual overtime loss.
As for the Colts, QB Carson Wentz is operating behind a banged-up offensive line and the QB is also injured as he is battling two sprained ankles. These two teams have both gone under in two of their three games so far this season, but the average total in those was 48 points. Today’s total is 42.5 and we think that the oddsmaker has overreacted and this number is way too low.
Over the last three seasons, Miami home games have averaged around 48 points per game and we think the heat and humidity is really going to play a factor here today. The forecast is calling for temperatures to be around 87 degrees today and we expect both defenses to really wear down, especially in the second half. The Colts are a dome team from a cold weather climate and they are simply not used to playing in these conditions. Meanwhile, Miami played a full overtime session last week on the road in Las Vegas so they will definitely be fatigued.
At 42.5 points, all we need is one special teams or defensive score and this total will be well on its way to going over. Miami’s defense has made a living on creating turnovers the last two seasons and we expect them to have at least one or two interceptions in this game against Wentz, who is on the decline and not 100% healthy.
