The Miami Dolphins close out their 2018 preseason schedule this Thursday night with a trip to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to face the Atlanta Falcons in a slated 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Dolphins are still looking for their first win of the preseason either straight-up or against the spread coming off Saturday’s 27-10 loss to Baltimore as 2.5-point home favorites on BetAnySports’ closing line. They lost to Tampa Bay at home 26-24 in Week 1 as 2.5-point favorites before losing to Carolina 27-20 on the road as three-point underdogs. The total went OVER in the first two games before staying UNDER 41 points against the Ravens.
Ryan Tannehill will most likely remain on the bench this Thursday night after completing 11 of his 16 passing attempts for 115 yards and a score in Week 3. Miami threw for a total of 201 yards in that game with three quarterbacks completing 21 passes to 16 different players. Two of those catches were hauled in by former New England wide receiver Danny Amendola for 23 yards and the lone passing touchdown.
Atlanta is looking to get back on top in the NFC South following last season’s 10-6 record that was good enough for a wild card spot in the playoffs. The Falcons have lost all three of their preseason games as well both SU and ATS. The were shutout by the New York Jets 17-0 in Week 1 as four-point road underdogs ahead of a 28-14 loss at home against Kansas City as two-point underdogs at home. On Saturday, Atlanta lost to Jacksonville 17-6 as a four-point road underdog with BetAnySports. The total has stayed UNDER in all three games.
Falcons’ head coach Dan Quinn already have a pretty good idea what Matt Ryan can do at quarterback, so I would expect to see a heavy dose of Matt Schaub under center on Thursday night. He completed 4-of-7 passes for 65 yards in Saturday’s loss as part of Atlanta’s 191 yards passing in that game. Tevin Coleman led the way on the ground with 38 yards rushing on seven carries.

One of these teams will get off the schneid for the preseason on Thursday night and my bet would be on the Falcons both SU and ATS as the better overall team playing at home.
