OK, let’s get to our Super Bowl Prop Over/Under Prediction.
When the Super Bowl total was posted almost two weeks ago, the number opened at between 50 and 51 at most sportsbooks and got immediately down to 48 and we totally agree with that early money and subsequent move.
For our reasoning, let’s start with the Rams. In the latter part of the season, Head Coach Sean McVay has turned his team into a run-oriented offense, especially as QB Matthew Stafford started to regress and throw more interceptions. For the season, the Rams threw the ball 60% of the time but in the three playoff games that number has dropped to 51%.
With running back Cam Akers as healthy as he has been all season and the Bengals defense ranking 24th in the league in yards per rush, we fully expect a similar approach from the Rams on Super Bowl Sunday.
Also, keep in mind that McVay has gone under in 27 of his last 37 games when listed as the favorite.
As for the Bengals, while they have become a much more pass-heavy team, they do not want this game to turn into a shootout. They played their best football of the season in the later stages and it’s no coincidence that they have gone under in four straight games and six of their last eight. Adding more fuel to the under fire, the Bengals are 7-3 to the under this season when listed as the underdog.
Put it all together and for our Super Bowl Best Bet, let’s take under the 48.5 points.
