OK, let’s get to our Super Bowl Prop Best Bets and Predictions.
Matthew Stafford has always been tagged as a QB who “wasn’t a winner” after a long, frustrating career with the Detroit Lions that produced zero playoff wins.
But the veteran QB’s career got a new lease on life during the off season when Rams head coach Sean McVay traded for him to replace Jared Goff as the team’s signal caller and now Stafford not only has a chance to wash away all of those bad memories with the Lions and win a Super Bowl, but with a win today over the Bengals, who could very well punch his ticket into the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton.
If you have watched our Super Bowl videos this week, you know how we have talked multiple times about how we think this Super Bowl will be on the low scoring side. A big reason for that thinking is because the Rams offense has really taken a run-first approach in the later stages of the season and that will continue today as they square off against a very average Bengals rush defense.
But as far as Stafford’s total TD passes prop is concerned, we like over 1.5, even though we have to lay a heavy price of -225.
This is a pure math play since 41 of LA’s 51 TDs this season have come via the air. Stafford threw for 2 TDs or more in 16 of the team’s 20 games this season, including in all three playoff wins. So, while we don’t expect Stafford to put up huge passing numbers today, we do think he’ll get up and over 1.5 TD passes. So, for our Matthew Stafford Super Bowl Best Bet, let’s take the over 1.5 TD passes at -225.
