Ok, let’s get to our KC vs Chargers prediction

As mentioned, numerous teams are going through a rash of COVID-19 issues this week so if you are betting these games it’s crucial that you have the most up to date info on all of the positive tests and a list of players who are already ruled out, or need to have two consecutive negative COVID tests this week in order to be cleared to play.

Concerning this game tonight, it’s not as bad as some of the other games scheduled for this upcoming weekend. For the Chiefs, linebacker Willie Gay, defensive lineman Chris Jones and wide receiver Josh Gordon will not play against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football after being placed on the Reserve/COVID list. While all of them are key players for KC – especially Jones, who is having an All-Pro season – the line has not been affected too much. This pointspread was heading from 3 to 4, but has settled in at most books with the Chiefs minus three since this news came out.

Aside from the COVID news, the big story out of this game is that it will have major ramifications for the AFC West title. The Chiefs have won six games in a row to improve to 9-4 and jump back into first place while the Chargers sit right behind them in second place at 8-5.

In the first meeting between these two divisional rivals back on September 26, the Chargers went to KC as a 7-point dog and came home with a 30-24 victory. But this is a completely different KC team this time around, especially on defense where the team has gone from being among the worst in the league to being a top 5 defensive unit.

During their six-game winning streak, the Chiefs have forced 16 turnovers and allowed an average of 311.7 yards and just 10.9 points per game.

Having said that, we really like this game to be a low scoring affair. Overall, the Chiefs have gone under in six out of their last eight games since their defense started to pick up the pace, while the Chargers have gone under the total in 11 of their last 14 games when listed as a home dog.

We love to go under the total in late season division games and this one has all of the makings of a low scoring game so let’s play under the total in Thursday Night Football!
