Kansas City Chiefs Overview:
Patrick Mahomes only played a few snaps in the first preseason game but there’s a chance he takes a couple of extra snaps. More than likely though, we’ll see a heavy dose of backup quarterback Anthony Gordon. Gordon finished the game against San Francisco with 79 yards passing. The Chiefs only had 74 total yards rushing, most of the success on offense was attributed to the passing game.
The defense is what held up strong against the San Francisco 49ers, and they’ll likely rely heavily on it here as well. The Arizona Cardinal offense is no slouch and has to be respected. If the Chiefs plan on covering the spread and going 2-0 in the preseason they’ll need a strong showing on defense.
Arizona Cardinals Overview:
The Arizona Cardinals come into the game after a win over Dallas last week. We didn’t get a look at Kyler Murray, which is expected so early in the preseason. However, they have a strong backup quarterback in Chris Streveler. Streveler led the offense in passing and rushing yards. He ended the night with 107 yards passing and 55 yards on the ground.
Just as the Chiefs will need to bring their A-game on defense, the Cardinals will need to bring the same. This time they aren’t facing the struggling Dallas offense, but the dynamic offense of the Chiefs. Hopefully, they’ll have most of their starters in on defense when Friday comes around.
