Ok, let’s get to our Jaguars vs Bengals picks
This game is a battle of two QBs who are former No. 1 overall picks in the draft and who ironically squared off in the 2019 College Football Championship.
Cinci’s Joe Burrow got the best of Jacksonville rookie Trevor Lawrence, who was the jaguars draft picks in 2021, in that game when LSU upset Clemson and the way their two NFL teams are playing right now, it appears that Burrow should notch another win over Lawrence tonight.
At 0-3, the Jags are probably the worst team in the NFL right now. Lawrence is completing only 54% of his throws for 5.7 yards per attempt and has already thrown 7 interceptions. You can expect those struggles to continue tonight as since the Bengals are 2-1 to start the season thanks to a defense that is allowing just 18 points per game — which is sixth best in the NFL — and only 78.3 yards per game on the ground. They are also fourth in the league with 10 sacks.
So, why are we not laying the points with Cincinnati tonight? Well, as good as the Bengals are playing, we are not ready to lay over a TD with them, just yet. This is still the Bengals we are talking about. If you look closely at their upset win at Pittsburgh last week, the offense gained only 268 total yards and the Steelers had 77 offensive plays to just 42 for the Bengals.
Cinci is just 2-5 against the spread the last 7 times they have been a favorite and they are 1-5 ATS the week after a straight-up win.
So, instead of taking a side tonight for our NFL predictions we’re going to call for a low-scoring game and go under the 45.5 points. We don’t have any confidence in either of these offenses putting up big numbers.
The Bengals have gone under the total in 8 of their last 11 games overall, and they are 5-0 to the under in their last five games as a home favorite.
Add it all together and we’re going under the total in Thursday Night Football.
