It’s Desperation Time For The LA Chargers

The LA Chargers face the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football this week. Both sides have just 2 wins and are desperate to grab their third. The Chargers are 2-4, while the Bears are 2-5, and while their records may suggest this will be a close game, LA is heavily favored to win. The Chargers are loaded with talent, they’ve simply underperformed. Conversely, the Bears are right where we expected them to be. Chicago still needs a few years to build a better team, and while they are on track to improving, the Bears are still a lower-tier team.

Chicago’s QB Justin Fields has been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup against the Chargers, meaning QB Tyson Bagent will be under center once again for Chicago. Bagent did surprisingly well in his NFL debut last week, going 21/29 for 162 yards and 1 touchdown in Chicago’s 30-12 win over the Raiders. The Chargers defense has been terrible, allowing 406.8 yards per game (310.0 passing, 96.8 rushing), meaning Bagent could be in for another successful outing.

However, despite their struggles, I’m going with the Chargers in this one. This feels like a make-or-break game for LA, and they’ll come out focused and ready to win. The Chargers have too many talented players to drop to 2-5, especially against the downcast Chicago Bears. Instead, LA will get a much needed blowout win, which could be the turning point of their season.

So for our Bears vs. Chargers expert pick, take the LA Chargers to Cover (-8.5) on Sunday.
