HUGE AFC West matchup to kick off season
The Chargers have Super Bowl aspirations this year. So who better to start the season off against than the team that knocked them out of the playoffs in the last regular season game last year. They are hoping that the trio of Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler, and Keenan Allen will lead this team offensively while new additions Khalil Mack and J.C. Jackson will help an already stout defense.
The Raiders also make a huge splash this offseason. They traded for a consensus top three WR in the NFL in Davante Adams. They also just inked TE Darren Waller to a long term deal. They are in the toughest division in football though and it will all come down to the play of Derek Carr.
I like the Chargers here. The Chargers just have the defensive advantage here. I think both of these offenses will finish in the top seven at the end of the season and I think they are pretty even. Looking at these defenses though there is just so much the Chargers are better at. The Raiders secondary is made up of a lot of no names and guys that haven’t proved themselves while the Chargers have a ton of talent in the front 7 and in the secondary, headlined by Derwin James.
