OK, let’s get to our Super Bowl Prop Best Bets.
In yesterday’s video we released our opinion on the LA Rams team total for Super Bowl Sunday, so today, let’s dive into the Bengals team total market.
The bookmakers have the Cincinnati team total listed at 21.5 points, but the number we are really interested in is the first quarter total of 6 points at -150.
We expect both of these teams to start slow since both QBs and, in fact, most every player on the Cincinnati roster have never played in a Super Bowl. They are going to need some time to catch their breath and settle into the game, and that’s exactly why the first quarter total for both teams has been set at 9.5.
As for the Bengals, they rank in the middle of the pack in the NFL this season in first-quarter scoring at just 4.3 points per game, and they’ll be running into a Rams defense that has been one of the best in the league in the opening quarter of games, allowing just 2.7 points per game in the first quarter, third best in the NFL.
The bottom line is this: If the Rams get the ball first, we will automatically be in great shape with this bet as the Bengals will likely only get one or two possessions at the most in the first quarter and will have to score a TD to prevent us from cashing. But even if they do receive the ball first, look for a conservative offensive game plan from the Bengals in the early going and if head coach Zac Taylor has the chance to kick a field goal and get points on the board early, he will most certainly allow their rookie kicker to do so since he has been absolute money in the playoffs. Field goals will be our friend, when it comes to this wager, so for our Super Bowl 56 Prop Bet, let’s play the Bengals under 6 points in the 1st quarter at -150.
