Detroit’s Rookie is Running Strong
The Detroit Lions shocked a lot of people when they selected running back Jahmyr Gibbs as the 12th overall pick in this year’s draft, and after a somewhat slow start, the rookie out of Alabama is finally showing us why the Lions took him so high. In Detroit’s last 4 games, Gibbs has come alive, recording 522 total yards (333 rushing, 189 receiving) and 5 touchdowns. Gibbs is averaging 64.0 rushing yards on the season, but over his 4-game explosion, he’s racked up 83.3 rushing yards per game. His current prop bet is O/U 46.5 rushing yards, and I’m taking the over.
Gibbs now faces a generous Green Bay run defense, and is expected to have yet another big game for Detroit. The Packers are giving up 134.7 rushing yards per game, the 5th-most in the NFL. Lions RB David Montgomery has returned from injury, but Gibbs will remain a focal point of Detroit’s offense, both in the running and passing game. The rookie will see plenty of snaps, as Gibbs has a 57% snap share since Montgomery’s return, and head coach Dan Campbell has said, “Gibbs will continue to see his fair share of carries”. Against Green Bay’s lackluster run defense, Jahmyr Gibbs is preparing to feast on Thanksgiving.
So for our Packers vs. Lions expert prop pick, take the Over on Jahmyr Gibbs’ 46.5 rushing yards prop for Thursday. Click here to see the latest odds on this matchup.
