Matchup: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Detroit Lions

The NFL Playoffs continue on Sunday with a Divisional Round matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions. The Lions are having the organization’s best season in recent memory, as Detroit is riding high on the back of their first playoff win in 32 years. Tampa Bay refuses to quit though, winning 6 of their last 7, which includes last week’s rout of the Philadelphia Eagles. The two sides met back in week 6 of the regular season, and the Lions won easily, taking down the Buccaneers 20-6 in Tampa, but week 6 was a long time ago. The Buccaneers proved last week they deserve to be here, but the Lions are backed by a city that’s waited 32 years for their shot at a Super Bowl.

Detroit is currently 6.5 point favorites over Tampa Bay, but both teams believe they have what it takes to reach the Conference Championship. Below you’ll find our Buccaneers vs. Lions predictions, including: stats, scores, and betting advice on everything from the moneyline to player props. Buccaneers vs. Lions: Player Prop

Amon-Ra St. Brown, Lions WR; Prop Bet: O/U 92.5 receiving yards

Prediction: Over (-115)

The Sun God of Detroit had himself another stellar season. St. Brown led the Lions receiving corps with 164 targets, 119 receptions, and 1,515 yards (94.7 yards per game). Last week against the Rams Amon-Ra was once again the top pass catcher, recording 110 yards on 7 receptions. He didn’t score, but he did secure the game winning catch that earned Detroit their first playoff win in 32 years. Needless to say, Amon-Ra St. Brown is invaluable to the Lions, and will be a key piece to their game plan against Tampa Bay.

Buccaneers vs. Lions Game Predictions

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked impressive in their Wild Card win over the Eagles, which I have to admit surprised me, but I’m still not convinced the Bucs have what it takes to go the distance. I’m going with the Detroit Lions to reach the Conference Championship. Detroit is on a mission, and there’s no way they lose this one in front of their fervent fan base. The Lions went 6-2 at home, averaging 30.5 points per game during the regular season. The Buccaneers went 5-4 on the road, averaging 23.0 points per game, and based on those numbers, the Lions take the win and cover the spread.

Detroit is the better team, plain and simple. In the Wild Card, the Bucs beat the rapidly collapsing Eagles, while the Lions took down the red-hot Rams. Detroit had the tougher test, and they got it done. Against Tampa, it’ll be up to QB Jared Goff, as the Bucs have a great run defense, but struggle against the pass, allowing 248.9 yards per game. Back in week 6, Goff recorded a whopping 353 passing yards against Tampa’s generous secondary, and this Sunday, I’m expecting another heroic performance from the Lions quarterback.

Moneyline Pick: Detroit Lions (-292)

ATS Pick: Detroit Lions (-6.5)

O/U Pick: Over (48.5)

Score: Buccaneers 23; Lions 31
