D’Andre Swift Versus The 49ers Run Defense
The San Francisco 49ers have one of the best run defenses in the NFL. They’ve allowed the fewest total yards on the ground this season (902) and are giving up just 82.0 rushing yards per game. The Niners will be up against the Philadelphia’s Eagles explosive running backs, but I think San Fran wins that battle. The Eagles average a respectable 133.3 rushing yards per game. At the helm of that rushing attack is 4th-year running back D’Andre Swift. Swift is averaging 70.0 yards per game and is seeing plenty of carries, averaging 17.2 opportunities over the last 5 weeks, but he is facing one of the best run stopping defenses in the league this week.
D’Andre Swift’s rushing prop is O/U 53.5 yards. I am going to take the Under on Swift’s rushing yards prop. Swift is a great running back, and the Eagles have arguably the best offensive line in the league, but the 49ers run stoppers are just too good. Since adding DE Chase Young, the Niners are allowing just 71.0 rushing yards per game, and D’Andre Swift will have a hard time breaking through San Francisco’s wall of run stoppers. I also don’t anticipate the Eagles to run very often. The 49ers have had a lot of success stopping the run, but their pass defense has been mediocre. Philadelphia will likely turn away from the run, and move the ball primarily through the air, leaving few opportunities for Swift to get the ball.
So for our 49ers vs. Eagles expert prop pick, take the Under on D’Andre Swift’s 53.5 rushing yards prop for Sunday.
