This game is also known as the “Hall of Fame” game and it will kick off the 2021 NFL season.

It’s good to remember that this is a preseason matchup, so we might not see all the starters. More than likely, we’ll get a glimpse of them for a drive or two but after that, we’ll see the second and third stringers. It doesn’t mean that this won’t be an exciting game though, on the contrary actually, because it gives us a good look at some of the rookies drafted.

Kickoff begins at 8:00 PM ET and takes place at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

Dallas Cowboys Overview

The Dallas Cowboys had a rough 2020 due to injuries but look to make a return to the top of the NFC East in 2021. This will be their first game on the field in a while but we can expect to see Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot in at least the first drive. We have to remember though, both of them struggled with injuries in 2020, so they won’t be out there for long. This means we’ll see a lot of Garrett Gilbert and Ben DiNucci at quarterback on Thursday. Tony Pollard will likely do the heavy lifting at running back for a couple of quarters as well.

After finishing 6-10 last season, the Cowboys want a fresh start, even if it’s only in preseason. They’ll face a great matchup in the Steelers, who have a couple of great backups to rely on in Thursday’s game. The Dallas Cowboys are only getting +1.5 points so they’re only a slight underdog. This essentially makes it a straight-up game with not many points given to them, the Cowboys are a risky pick on Thursday.

Pittsburgh Steelers Overview

The Steelers on the other hand had a great 2020 season, finishing 12-4. However, plenty of analysts believe Ben Roethlisberger’s over the hill as an elite quarterback. Due to this being a preseason game, we likely won’t see more than a few drives from Big Ben. They also might protect their rookie running back Najee Harris.

The good news for the Steelers is they’re a very deep offensive team. Backing up Ben Roethlisberger is Mason Rudolph, who was a starter while Ben was injured. Behind Rudolph is the former starter of the Washington Football Team Dwayne Haskins. Overall, the Steelers are a much deeper team than Dallas, and only have a small spread to cover.
