Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles NFL Preview
What’s certain heading into Saturday’s Week 17 game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles is that we’ll see both of these teams playing in the NFL Wildcard Round next weekend. What’s uncertain is how much playing time these two NFC East divisional rivals will give their starters on Saturday night in Philadelphia (8:15 p.m. ET kickoff) since neither team has much of a chance to improve its playoff seeding, making the game, for all intents and purposes, meaningless.
With a divisional crown already clinched, Dallas has more than a 90% chance to earn the No. 4 seed in the NFC standings. Philadelphia, meanwhile, is most likely locked into the seventh seed, no matter what the result on the field is tonight.
Despite that fact, the Cowboys are listed as a 5-point favorite over the Eagles with a total of 43.5 points at Wager6.ag, where you can receive a 200% Cash Bonus.
When these two teams met previously this season in Dallas there was much more at stake. Both came into the game with a 1-2 record, desperate to get back to .500. Dallas dominated, 41-21, as a 3.5-point home chalk, taking full advantage of a sloppy effort by the Eagles, who turned the ball over twice and were flagged for 13 penalties.
Tonight, both teams will be battling COVID-19 issues. Dallas is expected to be without star rookie linebacker Micah Parsons, who was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday. Elsewhere for the Dallas stop unit, linebackers Keanu Neal and Francis Bernard, defensive tackle Trysten Hill, safety Malik Hooker and cornerback Jourdan Lewis were also added to the COVID list. Earlier this week, the Eagles placed 12 players on the COVID list, including defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, safety Rodney McLeod, center Jason Kelce and tight end Dallas Goedert.
With so much uncertainty, this game will look more like a preseason game in the second half, rather than a divisional regular season game. With that said, this over/under is simply too high. Neither offense is going to want to run anything new and show their hand for the playoffs, so expect a very vanilla game plan from both sides with mostly back-ups on the field as the game goes along and the temperatures in Philly dip into the low 20s.
Even at full strength, the Cowboys have been an “Under Machine” on the road, cashing under tickets in 39 of their last 58 games away from home and we see no reason to buck that profitable trend tonight.
Go under the 43.5 points tonight in Philadelphia as both teams will be concentrating more on getting healthy for the playoffs, rather than trying to win this game.
