Cowboys Determined To Build Momentum Against Titans

By Sam Batz

cowboys vs titans

We are nearing the end. Playoffs are just around the corner and teams are gearing up for the final two weeks of the season. Tomorrow night is the last Thursday Night Football game of 2022, and has the Dallas Cowboys (www.dallascowboys.com) taking on the Tennessee Titans (www.tennesseetitans.com). The Cowboys enter this one as the clear favorite with the spread set at -10.5 points in their favor. Dallas is in second place in the NFC East at 11-4 and are coming off a statement victory over the division leading Philadelphia Eagles. Tennessee is 7-8 and have lost their last five games. They are a +10.5 point underdog, and with a struggling Malik Willis set to remain as the Titans starting quarterback, Dallas is set up nicely to win the game and cover the spread.

Thursday night’s matchup means little to the Titans, who can neither clinch a playoff spot nor be eliminated. Tennessee’s playoffs dreams will come to fruition next week against division rival, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Conversely, Dallas will remain at full throttle as they still have a shot to snatch the top spot in the NFC East, as well as, the No. 1 seed in the conference. It is unlikely, but there is a chance the Cowboys come out on top in the NFC, snagging the first round bye and the accompanying home-field advantage.

Tennessee’s head coach, Mike Vrabel, hinted that certain players could be on a limited snap count on Thursday as the team prepares for their crucial week 18 contest against Jacksonville. The Titans are banged up and want their top players healthy and rested for next week’s pivotal matchup. It is possible the Titans go full preseason mode against the Cowboys, resting their starters, and giving the back-ups a chance in the prime time spotlight.

The Cowboys however, will not be taking Thursday night’s game lightly. Dallas needs to win out in order to have a shot at the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and will undoubtedly have their top guys on the field as much as possible. Nevertheless, if Tennessee decides to pull their starters, and it sounds like they will, Dallas will win this game easily.

I would avoid Tennessee players at all costs when it comes to player prop betting. There is too much uncertainty surrounding the Titans precarious situation coming into Thursday night.  It is not worth taking the gamble on a player who may be limited, or not even play at all. One exception would be Malik Willis, who has been named the Tennessee starting QB for Thursday, but don’t expect much from the rookie in this one. Dallas however, has plenty of players worth looking at when it comes to player props.

Ceedee Lamb, Dallas WR, Over 70.5 Receiving Yards

CeeDee Lamb lists surprising names among players he models game after - Blogging The Boys

Ceedee has been the top wide-out for Dallas after the Cowboys traded away Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns over the offseason. Lamb is leading the Cowboys in targets, receptions, yards, and receiving touchdowns. He is averaging 80.5 yards per game, and on Thursday, he goes up against a Tennessee defense that is allowing 279.6 passing yards per game. As Dallas’ top receiver, Lamb should be seeing a majority of those passing yards. Ceedee has recorded 120 yards or more in back-to-back games, and will look to have another huge outing against a generous Tennessee secondary. I predict he will go over his 70.5 receiving yards prop.

Dak Prescott, Dallas QB, Over 242.5 Passing Yards & 1+ Touchdowns

In a recent press conference, Dak told reporters, “I don’t care what they’re doing on the other side…it’s about us building momentum…”, referring to his week 17 opponent’s odd playoff predicament. Prescott is coming into this game determined to win and ready to put up big numbers doing it. The Titans secondary has been shoddy when the starters are playing, meaning Dak could be in for a massive day throwing the ball if Tennessee decides to go with their backups. Additionally, the Titans have allowed 26 passing touchdowns, which is tied for 29th in the league. I expect Dak to take full advantage of Tennessee’s lackluster coverage and finish the game with more than 242.5 passing yards along with multiple touchdown passes.

Dalton Shultz, Dallas TE, Over 40.5 Receiving Yards

Dalton Shultz is one of Dak Prescott’s favorite targets. Shultz is second, behind Ceedee Lamb only, in targets and receptions for the Cowboys. He averages just 37.5 yards per game on the season, but we have to remember, Dak missed five games this year with a fractured thumb. When Prescott is under center, Shultz is averaging 47.0 yards per game. I expect Dallas’ big TE to go over his 40.5 receiving yards prop against the Titans on Thursday with Dak Prescott throwing him the ball.
