This Saturday’s betting action in Week 2 of the NFL preseason schedule gets underway at 4 p.m. with an AFC clash between the Cleveland Browns and the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. This is the first of three games that day on NFL Network.
Browns at Colts Game Overview
Expectations are running high for Cleveland this season as the favorite to win the AFC North. The Browns opened their preseason schedule with a 30-10 victory against Washington as slight 1.5-point home favorites to get things started in the right direction. They finished the 2018 regular season at 7-8-1 straight-up after posting a 3-1 record in the preseason both SU and against the spread. The total went OVER BetAnySports’ closing 35-point line in Thursday’s win after it stayed UNDER in three of their previous four exhibition games.
Baker Mayfield at quarterback is one the main reasons why the bar has been raised so high for Cleveland. The team added wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. during the offseason to join Jarvis Landry as the top two targets in the passing game. Mayfield did see limited action in Week 1 with 77 yards passing and a touchdown throw. He should get some extended time with the first team offense this Saturday afternoon.
The Colts are the preseason favorite to win the AFC South after making a return to the playoffs last season as a wild card team. They started their preseason schedule last Thursday with a 24-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills as 1.5-point road favorites. The total went OVER BetAnySports’ 36.5-point line. Indianapolis is still 6-1 SU and ATS in its last seven preseason contests. The total has stayed UNDER in five of those seven games.
Andrew Luck is looking to build on last year’s success after starting all 16 games at quarterback. He ended up fifth on the list in total passing yards (4,593). He was on the sidelines in Week 1 while Chad Kelly made the most of his chance to run the offense with 121 passing yards on 13 completions. Phillip Walker threw the Colts’ only touchdown through the air. Kelly also led the team in rushing with 53 yards on carries. Most of those yards came on a 33-yard scramble.
