The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended their season last year with a loss against the Los Angeles Rams at home. Now, they head into this game and season with Tom Brady as their starting quarterback. Brady will be starting his 23rd season and this might be his final season. Earlier this offseason, he announced he was retiring but after a short-lived retirement, he decided he was going to unretire and join Tampa Bay for another season. During training camp, he missed some time and only played a drive in all of the preseason. The Buccaneers ended up losing all of their preseason games but this shouldn’t be a concern for them. Their roster is talented and although Brady hasn’t been that present in Tampa Bay’s preparation for the season, he still brings a level of skill and experience that will help the Buccaneers out. The Buccaneers last year beat the Cowboys in their season opener by a final score of 31-29. In that game, the Buccaneers had 431 total yards of offense with a massive chunk of it coming from the passing game. Brady threw for 379 yards and 4 touchdowns while throwing two interceptions. Interestingly enough, the Buccaneers committed 4 turnovers and were still able to win the game. In this one, Tampa Bay will have new offensive additions starting for them while other players are returning from injury. Wide receivers, Julio Jones and Russell Gage, are expected to see a lot of activity if wide receiver, Chris Godwin, is to be limited as he is still recovering from a torn ACL.

The Dallas Cowboys lost last year at home against the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Since then, they lost their starting wide receiver to a trade that sent him to the Cleveland browns. The Cowboys still have Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Ceedee Lamb to carry their offense but it will be interesting to see how the offense performs without Cooper. Their defense last season was great and they added Dante Fowler Jr. and Anthony Barr during the offseason. The Cowboys ended the preseason with a record of 2-1 and have the opportunity to start the season off on a good note at home against Tampa Bay. In last season’s game, the Cowboys had 451 total yards of offense and like the Buccaneers, had a majority of their yards come from the passing game. Dak Prescott threw for 403 yards and 3 touchdowns while throwing one interception. In that game, Cooper had 13 receptions for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns. Clearly, Cooper played a huge role in their game against Tampa Bay, it will be interesting to see who steps up for the Cowboys.

In this game, I think we will witness another shootout between these teams. Both quarterbacks are great at moving the ball and scoring points. The Buccaneers need to do a better job of controlling the ball and the Cowboys need to be better at capitalizing on turnovers. The last time they played, the total points scored in the game was 60. Expect there to be a lot of points.

For our expert pick, take the over on the 50.5 total points scored.
