Trey Vs Justin 

Today’s week one game between the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears is a game full of question marks. It will be Trey Lance‘s first start as a confirmed starter for the 49ers and will also be Justin Fields first start under head coach Matt Eberflus. Those are where the question marks all center around. We all know that there was a big buzz around whether or not Jimmy Garoppolo would be traded in the off-season and we eventually saw that he signed an extension with the 49ers which just raises a concern that many people believe that the 49ers do not have confidence that Trey Lance can be their starter for the entire season. So if Trayland begins today’s game in Chicago poorly is it possible that we see Jimmy Garoppolo come into the starting position once again? Additionally, New reports came out early in the week that George Kittle suffered a groin injury that has really nagged him throughout this week and has kept him off the practice field and signs are pointing toward him not playing. So now Trey Lance has to start the new season off without one of his best weapons, a reason to believe that this game won’t be high scoring. We all know that Kyle Shanahan has always and will always have a potent running game and I believe that he will have to keep that going in order to help take the pressure off Trey Lance and make him pass more, an area in which he’s always struggled. Unfortunately for them, this is a stingy Bears defense, especially against the run. 

On the Bears side of the ball there are many question marks surrounding mainly their offense. The organization seems to be firmly behind Justin Fields and feels that the second year quarterback out of Ohio State will really take a jump this season. But this team did lose Allen Robinson and Jimmy Graham in the off-season, two players that played pivotal roles for them last year. Many believe that Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet can fill in those roles nicely but it is yet to be seen and will have to be approved starting today in San Francisco. 

All in all I am not a firm believer in the trailence hype as I watched him start multiple games last season and struggle passing wise to the point that he had to result in scrambling far too many times. I don’t think this offense will be able to move the ball as well as they did last season. We all watched Chicago be one of the worst offensive teams last season, but they brought in Matt Eberflus who is an offensive minded coach. This is going to be a defensive game that will showcase many turnovers as both QBs can be careless with the ball at times.
