OK, let’s get to our Villanova vs Providence expert picks.
It’s a battle of two Big East powers both ranked in the Top nationally tonight in Providence as the Number 8 Friars host the 10th-ranked Villanova Wildcats.
Villanova has won three in a row and six of its last seven games to improve to 19-6 overall and 12-3 in the Big East, but they struggled to get past Seton Hall on Saturday, winning by just six points.
Providence, meanwhile, is riding an eight-game winning streak and hasn’t lost a game since way back on January 4th. The Friars are 21-2 overall and have proven to be tough to beat on their home floor at the Dunkin Donuts Center, where they are 14-0 straight up, but just 7-7 ATS.
Both of these teams are at their best when they are active on the defensive end of the floor and in a big game without a lot at stake, we expected to see some real tenacity from both defenses tonight, which means we like this game to go under.
Neither team has many sharp shooters from the outside as they both rank around 150th in FG percentage, and the Friars have historically shown that they like to slow it down when playing at home against quality foes, going 27-10 to the under in their last 38 home games against winning teams.
In a game with two average offenses and two quality defenses, let’s play under 130.5 as our Tuesday Night Best Bet.
