Richmond really came out of nowhere. They were the sixth seed in the Atlantic 10 tournament and ran the table to win the entire thing. They edged out Davidson in the final by two points. Richmond absolutely stole someone’s tournament bid as they were definitely not getting in as an at-large, but Davidson did.
It seems like a lot of people are taking Richmond in this game as a trendy upset pick. I don’t think they even cover. Iowa is playing the best basketball they have played this whole season. I think Richmond has gotten a bit lucky when it comes to winning their conference tournament. I already mentioned that they barely beat Davidson.
