OK, let’s get to our analysis of the Central Michigan vs Akron picks and parlays.
What has been a disastrous season for Central Michigan could very well come to an end tonight in Akron. Since only eight teams make the Mid American Conference tournament, the Chippewas need to pull off a massive road upset tonight in order to slide into the conference tourney against an Akron team that has won four in row both straight up and against the spread to improve to 20-9 on the season.
But despite the huge disparity in W-L records between these two teams, they played a near dead-even game in the first meeting this season. Back on January 25, Akron was a 12-point favorite as it traveled to Central Michigan and barely escaped with a 60-56 win. CMU actually outrebounded Akron in that game and if the Chippewas didn’t shoot a dismal 36% from the floor, including hitting just 6 of 16 shots from behind the three-point arc, they might have pulled off the upset.
Akron has not been a profitable bet when facing inferior opponents, going 1-5 ATS against teams with a winning percentage below 40% and they are a horrible 2-7 ATS this season when favored by double digits.
With Central Michigan in desperation mode to keep its season alive, we’re going to call for them to hang around until the late stages of this game and get the cover. Take the 14 points!
