Ok, let’s get to our Kansas vs Creighton predictions.
Creighton is riding high after an overtime, upset win over San Diego State on Thursday in the first round of the Midwest Region, but with injuries piling up over the last couple weeks it seems that the Blue Jays have been handed a near-impossible task in Round 2 where the Number 1 seeded Kansas Jayhawks await.
Creighton will be without two key players today after Ryan Kalkbrenner hurt his knee injury during the OT win over the Aztecs, while point guard Ryan Nembhard has been out for almost two weeks with an injury he suffered in the final game of the regular season.
Meanwhile, Kansas cruised into the second round with a dominating 83-56 win over Texas Southern on Thursday, despite an off night for consensus All America big man, Ochai Agbaji, and being without the services of David McCormack and Mitch Lightfoot, who sat out the game because of some nagging injuries.
But instead of playing the obvious here and jumping on the Jayhawks minus a big number against the short-handed Blue Jays, we think there is a lot of value in going under the 140 points. Even before the two key injuries, Creighton has been playing low-scoring games, going under in 10 of its last 16 games. In fact, during that stretch, the only games that went over were ones in which the Blue Jays scored more than 80 points, or they went into overtime, and we don’t expect them to get anywhere near that many points tonight.
Creighton is also 20-7 to the under in its last 27 games against teams with a winning percentage of 60 or more while the Jayhawks have gone under in 26 of their last 38 NCAA tournament games when listed as the favorite.
So for our Kansas vs Creighton basketball best bet, let’s go under the total of 140.
