Ok, let’s get to our Texas Tech vs. Iowa State Prediction.
It’s an early season rematch of Big 12 rivals in Lubbock, Texas tonight as Number 15-ranked Iowa State visits 18th-ranked Texas Tech.
These two teams met back on January 5 in a game that saw both teams shoot poorly as the Cyclones won, but did not cover the 5-point spread, in an ugly 51-47 decision.
Since that game, ISU lost to Oklahoma and Kansas, but bounced back to snap the two-game losing skid with a win over Texas over the weekend as a two-point home dog to improve to 14-3 overall.
Meanwhile, the Red Raiders rebounded from that loss to Iowa State in impressive fashion by posting wins over Kansas, Baylor and Oklahoma State before getting upset at Kansas State over the weekend as a 5-point road chalk.
As for tonight’s rematch, we don’t see any reason to believe that the results will be any different when it comes to the pace of this game and offensive struggles we saw on January 5th. Both of these teams play very slow. Iowa State ranks 208th in the country in offensive possessions per game while Texas Tech is 223rd. They also both rank in the Top 15 in the nation in points allowed per game and when you consider all of that, we don’t think the oddsmaker has adjusted this total down enough from the 127 that was posted in the first meeting.
The Red Raiders have gone under the total in eight of their last 10 games while Iowa State has gone 10-5 to the under the last two seasons in games following a straight-up victory.
So, let’s take advantage of a bad number tonight, and play under the total of 123.
