Ok, let’s get to our Penn St vs Iowa NCAA prediction.
This is the biggest game of the day today as we have two Big 10 teams that are both undefeated and ranked in the Top 4 with the winner getting an inside track to playing in the Big 10 Championship Game and ultimately earning a bid to the College Football Playoff.
Even though Iowa beat Penn State last year, 41-21, as slight road favorite of 1.5 points, the Nittany Lions had dominated this series previous to that winning six in a row while going 5-1 against the spread, but their last three wins were all by one score.
Both of these teams have been winning games this season while leaning on stingy defenses as Iowa is ranked second in the nation in scoring defense and Penn State is right behind them at Number 3. On Offense, both teams are also scoring more than 30 points per game, so when we look at a game like this where we have two evenly matched teams and a pointspread right around pick’em, we have to lean toward taking the home team, especially since the Hawkeyes have gone 14-1 in their last 15 games when they are a favorite of four points or less. Iowa is also 13-5 against the number when listed as a conference favorite of 7 points or less and while Penn State head coach James Franklin has done a nice job with the program, in his career he is 0-9 in road games against Top 10 teams and eight of those losses were by 11 points or more.
