Ok, let’s get to our Oregon vs Oregon State prediction.
This in-state rivalry game is called The Civil War and it’s a series that has been dominated by Oregon. Despite losing last year’s game, the Ducks have won 11 of the last 13 meetings and haven’t lost to the Beavers at home since 2007.
But this year’s game has a little bit of a different twist. Even though this is a fierce rivalry and the Ducks could punch a ticket to the Pac 12 Championship Game with a win, we think they could be in letdown mode. The reason is because Oregon has had much higher hopes than winning the conference championship all season, but a blowout loss to Utah last week ended any dreams of them making the College Football Playoffs, so you have to think the team is a bit dejected heading into this game against Little Brother.
On the flip side, we have an Oregon State team that’s feeling pretty good about itself after upsetting Arizona State at home last week with a dominating 24-10 win that improved the team to 7-4. That win was no surprise as OSU has played tough against superior opposition, covering their last six games against teams with a winning record, while going 10-3 at the betting window as an underdog in their last 13 games when taking points.
We talk about it all of the time on these videos that we love to find underdogs of a TD or more that have a solid running game and a stout defense and that’s what we have with the Beavers today. Oregon State runs the ball on 62% of its offensive snaps, which is the 11th highest ratio in college football, and they average 5.4 yards per carry, which is 8th best in the nation.
We’ll call for the Beavers to win the time of possession, run the ball at will and keep this one close against a Ducks team that is still dealing with having their national championship title hopes burst last week.
