All right, Tommy D back here with the bet the edge podcasts. It’s the Wednesday update, February 16. Welcome back, everyone coming off of you know, the biggest weekend of the year and in football. We’re going to talk a little about the Super Bowl. But what we’re going to be talking about here is some NBA games for Wednesday, and one college basketball game. Well, I’m drinking a lot of water the last few days to sell from the celebration of the champagne I drank over the last few days from my big time Super Bowl winner with Cincinnati so I’m pumped up and I’m ready for some basketball now. Now we swept football bye bye. Let’s get some nice winning going with these baskets.

And dry I know you did pretty good in the Super Bowl. You were talking before we got on the show you did some live betting so just quickly tell us what what how it ended up meeting.

Yeah, I mean, I thought it was a great game. I thought it could have went either way at the end maybe since he made some coaching mistakes or whatever but well well deserved win for other rams. I did put out the Bengals plus the points. We also had the the under. So we did overall overall I think we all did pretty good. And you know I football will be here before you know it. And we’re gonna get through basketball, baseball and so on. Alright, let’s get right down to NBA Wednesday. Two games that we’re looking at here. And I want to hear from both us who do you like we’re going to put out a best bet Dre is going to throw out some props in the end. First game up warriors nuggets. I got an early number here. Warriors five and a half over the nuggets. Last 10 games, Denver’s six and four straight up seven and three on the spread warriors seven and three straight up but not so well on the spread three six and one. We’ll start with you Scott, what do you see in this one?

I don’t know the Warriors have been different of late I’ll tell you that they were a house of fire and now they are kind of going back and forth a little bit that kind of going through you know, it’s a long season obviously. The NBA might be getting a little burnt out before the all star break coming up this weekend. Which should be some fun you know with the all star game coming up. You know, Denver has been playing pretty steady have recently obviously they’re playing they still got a lot of key guys out of the lineup. The number on the game kind of attracts me a little bit they’re showing an early indication somewhere in the neighborhood of about five and a half to six and a half on this spread but you know the Warriors i don’t know i think they a little tired right now they’re just like a little flat. I mean the other night they kind of got beat up you know by the clippers. They haven’t been playing that well yet coming home. The nuggets have been on the road the road wreck it’s decent, I mean, not not not as good as it could be. But I think right now they like 16 and five and they’re like 14 1416 to one against the spread so you know average numbers at best. But I think the number in this game is going to keep the nuggets close. I think the you know the Warriors, though, again, being flat and not playing up to there. And I think Steph Curry is a little burnt out, you know, recently hasn’t been really performing to the level he was for that run there for quite some time. I think the nuggets are going to hang in the game. I think this game is gonna be a little close to this game could come down to the very end. I wouldn’t be surprised if the nuggets could pull an upset in the game, but I would grab six and a half if you could buy that number up to six and a half. I’d be jumping on Denver in this game. I just got a feeling the joke is coming to play and he’s going to come after them somehow some way and eat them up and take advantage of the key players out for the Warriors so take the nuggets guys plus the points. Alright, so

you like them a plus the points Trey What’s your take on this one?

Yeah, I’m gonna stay away from the spread here. I actually like a total the total fake here. The over 224 I really like my already saw us line jump half a point on the words we just got talked about that coming off of really disappointing 15 point loss of the warriors in the game in which Steph scored like 26 points in the first half, and then just scored seven the rest of the game. So they’re really streaky. I think they won nine straight and now they’ve lost three of their last four. It’s just, it’s hard to read sometimes with them. But I think we’re done nuggets. They’re averaging. They won for their last five and over those five they’re averaging 118 points per game, and over the Warriors last 11 they’re averaging 115 I think that this over is with two MVP candidates pushing both offenses to top five MVP candidates. I just think I really like this over I think both offenses could explode here.

Alright, so we got an over we got one on the dog here. Second game. Well, if you’re from New York, which I’m originally from, you know, nets Knicks, it’s like the Mets Yankees. I mean, both these teams are pretty much in the dumpster right now. I mean, the nets last one and nine straight up against the spread. Three and five, the next two and eight. That just not not to wait and two against the spread last 10.

You haven’t told me Don’t forget when you when you got big time rivalries like this to throw records out the window. And even if one teams dominating the other teams playing,

but neither team is like the world on fire. We got an early number, the next five and a half point favorites. I’ll start with you, Dre. What do you think? Yeah.

I mean, both of these teams are just playing horribly right now. The nuts I lost 11 straight before finally getting a win last night, two nights ago. And then the next they want to have their last 10. And they blown multiple 20 Point leads in that timeframe to Lakers to the trailblazers. So it’s all that they’ve been blowing leads to good teams. I mean, they lost the other night to the trailblazers after having a 22 point lead. And Julius trying to have like a massive game and they lost and Tom Thibodeau basically gave up on his team on the sideline, it was going viral. But um, I do think that the natural keep this close I’m pretty Kyrie can’t play in this game because it’s in New York, he still can’t get any sort of have a vaccine. So um, I know he likes playing in MSG. So that would have been nice to see. But I do like the plus five and a half here. And that’s look like they’re finally having fun. All that tension, after the trade deadline with harden and all that stuff. seems to have gone away. They had fun in their last game, they killed the king. So I do think that this number is a bit too big. If it gets down to four, then I rethink it. But I think five and a half is really good.

Scott, what’s your take on this one?

I like the other side. Totally, totally. Totally think the Knicks are coming to this game to treat this game like a huge, huge matchup. I think they’re going to take advantage of the lineup of Brooklands. I really feel the the Knicks are going to come out in this game strong. This is an exact type of game that the Knicks could really showcase by beating the rivalry, you know, Crosstown rivalry like this, I think the line is not going to be five and a half, it’s probably going to be close to down to four, or four and a half. I don’t know about five and a half. You know, that’s an early indication. But I just think that the Knicks need some type of lift. And I think this is the type of game with the Kyrie not being in there, obviously hard and gone Durant out, you’re gonna have like a MASH unit. Going against the Knicks RJ Barrett might even be playing, he’s going to be more of a game time decision. But he may be back and playing. If he is playing the line probably would stay closer to five and a half, may even go up to six. If he’s not playing. I think the line is probably going to be closer to four, four and a half. You know, again, these are early indications I’m seeing based on my numbers and my charts and everything that I do prepare for these type of games. But like you said earlier, one in nine against you know, one and nine in the last 10 Brooklyn, the Knicks are two and eight the last 10 It’s like a prize for what you know what I mean? It’s almost like what are you going to get you’re gonna get a trophy for you know, the way these thieves are playing right now. These teams are playing terrible. They’re not playing right. There’s definitely things issues going on with both of these teams. But I just feel at home with the with the crowd obviously even though Brooklyn comes there. It’s going to be a Knicks crowd big time. And I think they’re going to push them and I think the Knicks would like to see a blowout and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Knicks don’t blow him out and win this game by double double A point spread if not more. So take the next guys

all right battle in New York. They got to go over the bridge to go to Manhattan who

want to tease playing way on the What the You know, the people expect it, you know, at the beginning of the year, I mean, both of these teams were supposed to be playoff teams, and so forth and so on, obviously, yeah, there’s been a lot of injury prone things and lots of luck but both of these teams expected to be playoff contending teams. I just don’t even see At this point in time unless some major corrections done the last 25 games of the season, obviously,

well, you got the break this week, so I’m sure they’re going to have some time to reassess and start the second half of the season off. Right. Let’s move to college people. This an interesting matchup here. Number eight Bala versus I believe number 10. They are a Texas Tech.

I mean, Texas Tech at home 15 In Oh, this year, I mean, last 10, eight and two against the spread Bella six and four straight up five and five against the spread. We’ll go back to you, Scott. know this type these type of games. You know what these big 12 games like this low lines tie, all this stuff going on, you know, this team on the road versus to steam at home this this could be a tough game. I mean, to be honest with you, not a game, I’m particularly going to be putting my clientele into to be honest with you. If I had to make a professional opinion on a game like this. I mean, tech does play extremely well at home. 15. And Oh, very good against the spread. 12 and three, but Baylor is a good solid overall team that’s 21 and for the six and two on the road, five and three against the spread both these teams playing so so of late one, six and four in the last 10 But Baylor, Texas Tech seven and three, I mean, the numbers right on this game, because it’s a coin flip. I’m gonna I’m gonna lean a little bit towards the dog in the game. I don’t even really call it a dog. I think that Baylor might be right, I think they might be a little more together at this point in time than Texas Tech is. I know Texas Tech, they’re going to lose sooner or later at home, they’re not going to go undefeated forever. For the rest of the season. I think this would be the perfect spot for Baylor to come in there and pull a nice not I don’t even want to call it an upset just pull a nice win and get the job done. So I like the dog. Again, I would probably get this line and early indication was shown as one one and a half. I would probably buy this number up to two or two and a half with Baylor. I think the game you know could be a very tight back and forth type of game. I don’t see anyone really blowing each other out. I think these games are going to be very defensive type of things. And then it could break you know, breakout in the last four or five minutes of the game. Whoever wins it wins it. But I think Baylor’s the right side of this game as the dog on the road plus, I get the line two plus two, two and a half guys.

Right. You agree? Are you looking at something else?

I’m gonna disagree with Skye here. I think that Texas Tech is just in a good spot here. They already beat Baylor we know that they beat Baylor at Baylor. It was ended Baylor’s 21 game win streak dating back to last year. This Texas Tech team is pretty good. They if you’re looking at common opponents, they lost by three points to Kansas even though Baylor got blown out by Kansas. Um, I do think Baylor is not Baylor’s not to play here. They’re going on the road. They just lost one of their best players. I’m not even gonna try to pronounce his name. I don’t know how to say it. But they just lost him off the season. I think Texas Tech is in a good spot two in here. And I would I agree with Scott here. I would take just the money line. I would not bet minus one and a half. I’d take the money on.

You know, the road team in this matchup is done well of late the last five times. It’s for one against the spread for the road team. And also there’s a big number with Baylor they last 26 games playing against teams at home with a good wind percentage Baylor’s 19, six and one against the spread. So they do go into tough places. And they do extremely well against the spread. I mean, 1961 that’s what about a 7075 76% win percentage on the last 26 games against teams that play well in the building. So I like the wood. Like I said, I like a few of those numbers. And I think the way Bale is playing right now and the revenge of like Trey said a little while ago that Baylor got beat at home by Texas Tech. I think that’s going to be double advantage for Texas Tech to lose this game. I think Baylor is going to come in pumped up and want to revenge that loss on their court and come really strong and game. And I think the number is a little soft. I think if it was it opened in one I’m seeing one and a half right now. And that’s why I’m saying but I would probably buy it up to two two and a half to get a better number because I look for numbers and advantages. That’s how I think business, but I just think that Baylor is right in this game.

Yeah, it’s gonna be the nuggets and warriors over I just think that these are two good coaches. And last matchup they played it was super low scoring 8986 Nuggets when I think they’re both gonna make adjustments, and I think they’re both gonna score a lot of points. Both of these teams are top 12 in offensive efficiency. yoka just playing out of his mind right now. So I just think that this overs is a smash pick.

Alright, Scott, who is your best bet for Wednesday?

Well, I looked at the board. There’s a lot of games, obviously in the NBA and in college basketball, but one game stands out to me. I think the Celtics are going to absolutely destroy Detroit. I don’t have the current line on that game at this point in time, but I know it’s going to be double digits. But I know the Celtics are playing, you know, they played a tough game in Philadelphia. And they come in right back to home to play against the pistons. I just think that Celtics are going to come out in that game and just go hog wild. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they win that game by 18 to 25 points. The games probably going to be probably in the neighborhood of a dozen points dry. You see in any early indication.

I’m seeing minus 12 and a half and minus 14.

Yeah, yeah, I’m looking for Boston. Absolutely. Just the real that train of the motor of Detroit Motor City is going to have a little derailment in the TD Garden and I’m looking for the Celtics to win that game by no less than 18 to 25 points. I think they’re going to come out strong salaries are playing phenomenal basketball right now. I said it a few weeks ago on the show here. I said the Celtics were going to catch fire and go on a big run. And since then, the Celtics I think have won like eight games in a row nine games in a row. They’ve won like nine out of the last 10 But they’re on that run right now where they’re peaking back in and now they’re getting into compensation in this playoff race that’s going on. So don’t be don’t don’t underestimate the Celtics right now. They’re playing good ball. They’re going to tough one against Philly. We’ll see what happens there. But I feel they’re going to come out on Wednesday and absolutely kick ass against Detroit.

Friday show we’re gonna go over this stuff. Trey give us a couple of props. You’re You’re our resident prop guy here. Throw out a couple of props in the NBA.

Yeah, I got two for you guys today. So for for tomorrow. We got DeMarco Rosen. Just Just take us over in points. He’s playing absolutely ridiculous. He likes that six lights. Yeah, ridiculous. He’s his last six games. He is out of the game under 35 points. As soon as February started. He just decided to play out of his mind. He’s averaging 36 points over over this month. I just think that keep taking over until he doesn’t hit it at this point because they can’t stop him right now. And then my second one is going to be the over in Lucca daunted point. He is playing out of his mind right now. Now he’s got A marquee matchup with with Miami in Miami. The easiest one seed overs. Last three games are over February two, he is averaging 37 points. His last six games, you put a 4033 He had an off night where they blew him out and he had 18 and then 3351 45. All the Mavericks have won for the last five and Luke is playing just great right now. He’s finally getting into basketball shape. So I really think that he’s going to go over to

Guys My best advice. It’s all about basketball. Now we don’t have to worry about football anymore. Footballs gone. We all had a great year, we made some money. I hope you did as well as we did. But let’s focus on what’s at hand. We’re coming into one of the best times of the year for college basketball, and the second half of the NBA. really tighten up guys, if you want opportunities out there. If you see the mistakes, you made the first half, try to eliminate those mistakes in the second half. That’s the best advice I can give you. There’s some really good matchups coming up. These teams have played each other now. They’re they’re coming in the form, there’s certain opportunities where lines are going to be off. Let’s look for advantages and take advantage of these opportunities. So the best advice I can give you focus in Don’t be in a rush to play just to play too many guys chasing too many guys playing parlays too many guys doing a lot of things they shouldn’t be doing. At the end of the day, guys, it’s money. I mean, you’re risking your money. So why risk it if you don’t have to try to tighten up look for advantages and come to guys like us. We do this for a limit. We’re spending 80 to 100 hours a week, a week doing this every day. And as good as we are we still make mistakes. I’m the first one to admit it. I’m not perfect. But you know what, I don’t have to be perfect. If I stay at 65 to 68% on my best games throughout the year. I’m making everyone money. And that’s the end of that’s all I can really say guys.
