OK, let’s get to our Gonzaga vs San Francisco Prediction.
Many are saying that tonight will be the night that the powerful Gonzaga Zags actually break a sweat as the Number 1 team in the nation heads to San Fran to take on the offensively talented Dons.
Gonzaga has won 16 in a row and every single one of those victories were by 12 points or more, including a 16-point triumph over San Francisco in Spokane back on January 20th. In that game, the Zags led by just three points at the half, before extending the lead in the second half. Gonzaga had an off night from 3-point land in that game, hitting just 5 of 18 attempts from behind the arc, but they held San Fran to just 62 points, well below its average of 76.3 points per game.
Having said all of that, we like tonight’s game to go over the total. Gonzaga has gone under the total in five straight games, but we think the oddsmaker has overreacted, especially when you consider that none of those teams they beat can put the ball in the basket like the Dons.
Playing on their home floor, we fully expect San Fran to score closer to their season average tonight and we also are willing to bet that Gonzaga will shoot the ball much better than it did in the first meeting.
Gonazaga has had just five games this season where the pointspread was in single digits and four of those games have gone over the total because those are the games that the Zags offense is firing on all cylinders and that will be the case tonight in San Fran, so let’s play over the total of 156 points.
